    Words by press on "Memoria"

We've compiled some words from magazines and journalists all over the world who had some very nice things to say about "Memoria":

Noise and tranquillity, modular synths and jangle from Danish composer. Trentemøller's deftness in balancing light and shade and a multi-layered approach are key to its allure. (Mojo, UK)

The Danish producer digs into dream-like influences for his new work, introducing spectral shoegaze elements into his electronic tapestry. (Clash, UK)

Memoria traverses some ground that fans of the Danish musician will find familiar, but it also digs deeper into themes of transience and various forms of continuance. (XLR8R, USA)

Danish producer Anders Trentemøller has been making cinematic electronic soundscapes for over 20 years now and is constantly finding new avenues of traversing genre-bending lush landscapes. The latest singles off his forthcoming sixth studio album, Memoria, “In the Gloaming” and our Song of the Day “All Too Soon,” find him employing textured dream pop and the glistening vocals of his girlfriend Lisbet Fritze for a majestic and mysterious mood. (KEXP, USA)

Danish composer, musician, and producer Trentemøller seems to unearth another layer of his lush, cinematic sonicverse with every release. Over the last twenty years, he's found a home for his captivating style in everything from immaculate electronica to gauzy celestial pop. (KEXP, USA)

Something warm, strange and romantic, disconnected from reality yet utterly welcoming. (Two Story Melody, USA)

While a certain amount of gloomy darkness is still a crucial ingredient for the Trentemøller sound there is a certain brightness and hopeful notion in this new album, transported via lots guitar, reverb and an almost meditative notion. (Nothing But Hope And Passion, GER)

Shoegaze, synth-pop, and post-rock collide on this absolute stunner. (The Revue, CA)

His latest album, Memoria, sees the Danish producer and multi-instrumentalist digging deeper into the sound he perfected on 2019’s Obverse - broody guitar lines, shadowy synth tones, and cascading arpeggios - while honing his skills as a songwriter and lyricist. (Future Music, UK)

With Memoria, Trentemøller continues to work with familiar themes of light and dark, turbulence and serenity, piercing chill and comforting warmth; clearly inspired by the inherent antipodal elements of the Nordic environment he calls home. He pushes deeper into this familiar territory, while simultaneously broadening his scope. (Broadwayworld, USA)

  • DÍSA, Trentemøller

Trentemøller releases brand-new song with DÍSA

With the new album Memoria under his belt and right in time for the second leg of his album tour, Trentemøller releases a brand new song - Into The Silence.

The new work fits seamless into the musical universe of Memoria and presents us with a wonderful, dreamy, guitar and synth driven Indie-song.

Into The Silence is also the first cooperation with DíSA (Disa Jakobs), the singer of the all new Trentemøller band on the Memoria tour. Her vocals are perfectly woven into the song, sometimes floating above and sometimes shining through from the engine room.

"During our recent tour," says Trentemøller, "Disa and I spoke about doing a song together. It felt quite obvious as we really developed a common language when we played so many concerts together already. After finishing our first leg of the tour, I immediately went to the studio and wrote the music for this song. It really came to me easily as I felt quite inspired. Disa then wrote this beautiful and bittersweet text that compliments the music so well I think. And her unique voice just melts into the music in a very natural way."

Trentemøller will play a handful of shows in Europe before the entourage takes off to North America in September.

Recap: Trentemøller MEMORIA Spring Tour 2022

Trentemøller and his band just finished the first leg of the European MEMORIA tour! After a fantastic kick-off in Scandinavia, they played Amsterdam, London, had some amazing shows in Belgium, France and Switzerland and a grande finale in the south, playing shows in Milan and Bacelona. "It’s been such an amazing and heartfelt experience playing for so many lovely people in 12 different cities … and boy … I’m gonna miss my incredible sweet and talented band members.", says Anders himself.

For the MEMORIA tour, Trentemøller set up a completely new band: The brilliant Disa Jakobs adds her beautiful vocals and plays guitar and synth. Brian Batz joins in on the guitar and Jacob Haubjerg helps out with bass, guitar and vocals. On the drums, we have Silas Tinglef (2nd Blood) and last but not least, Trentemøller himself on the keys.

Also, we would like to give a big shoutout to the support acts School of X, Mavourneen and Living Ever After, who did a bad ass job!

Here's the media's take on the MEMORIA tour:

"Standing in Den Grå Hall and seeing and hearing the fusion of images, lights, music and song - after hearing the School of X warm-up from the long queue - was cathartic." (GAFFA, DK)

"I noticed an intense anticipation that was only further affected by a beautiful lighting setup (v. legendary lighting designer, Leroy Bennett) - the combination especially of the lights (which were accidentally or unintentionally in Ukrainian colors) and the later often diffuse visuals (which brought to mind drone videos of bombed-out cities)." (GAFFA, DK)

"[...] each piece of the puzzle falls into place, forming a much more complex image than expected, to which even the most reluctant must surrender, letting themselves go." (L'Indiependente, IT)

"[...] a unique balance between the airy singing, the grounding mix of electronic beats and the acoustic support." (Dansende Beren, BE)

"A rollercoaster of contrasts and sensations dressed in a masterful set of lights that left the audience spellbound by so much virtuosity." (, ES)

  • Trentemøller's sixth album "Memoria"

Out now: Trentemøller's sixth album "Memoria"!

Analysis and fixed processes have supplanted mystery. Romanticism is in short supply. Luckily there is still music being released that pushes back. Anders Trentemøller’s new album, MEMORIA, seems to exist at the confluence of inspiration, coincidence, and maybe even a little bit of the supernatural.

After unexpectedly releasing four songs on two singles in 2021 (No One Quite Like You and Golden Sun), one might have been surprised to find a full album’s worth of material waiting in the wings. As with most Trentemøller releases, it’s a body of songs that are thematically linked by many melodic threads.

Classically speaking, memoria (memory) is one of the five canons of rhetoric, along with discovery, arrangement, eloquence, and recitation. It’s how stories are told, and memoria is the central pillar. Trentemøller’s songs never deliver the completed narrative, that’s for the listener to construct, but in every track exists these five seeds, primed for germination.

For MEMORIA, it is the first time Trentemøller has written all lyrics and vocal melodies himself. His girlfriend Lisbet Fritze helped bringing the songs to life and Dóra Dúna created the amazing artwork. The release of the full album was accompanied by the release of the music video for the single "Like A Daydream":

Besides the digital release the album will be also available on double-vinyl in gatefold sleeve, on CD and on cassette.
